Supermarket giant Tesco learnt a thing or two about Cows when they started investigating how they could reduce the carbon footprint of it’s customers.
The amount of methane cows produce contributes to three quarters of the emissions generated in making and consuming milk.
So Tesco turned to science and with the help of the University of Liverpool, have been developing animal feeds which will cut the Cows ’emissions’.
Tesco is aiming for carbon neutrality by 2050 but accepts that it will only achieve this if it works with its customers.
Tesco now carries more than 5,000 product lines which have the carbon trust’s carbon reduction label. Sales of such products have already exceeded those of fair-trade labelled products.
